Amazon Alexa: How do I control my fan with Amazon Alexa?

Note: Voice control of fans requires a Wi-Fi connection and an Alexa-enabled device such as Echo, Dot, or Fire Stick.

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS

1. Download the Amazon Alexa app (iOS or Android) and verify that your Alexa device is set up and ready for use.
2. Verify that your fan is receiving power and is connected to your Big Ass Fans mobile app account. For help connecting your fan to your account, see How do I connect my fan to my Big Ass Fans account?
3. Open the Alexa app, go to the Menu, and then tap Skills & Games.
4. Search for “Big Ass Fans” and tap Enable.
5. You will be prompted to sign in to your Big Ass Fans account and authorize its connection to Alexa. Note: You must use the same email account and password used in the Big Ass Fans app for Alexa to discover your fan.
6. Tell Alexa to discover your devices.
7. After discovery is complete, you can control your fan using voice commands.

For fans:

• “Alexa, turn on my family room fan.”
• “Alexa, turn off my family room fan.”
• “Alexa, set my family room fan to 30%.”
• “Alexa, turn up my family room fan.”
• “Alexa, turn down my family room fan.”

For lights:

• “Alexa, turn on my family room light.”
• “Alexa, turn off my family room light.”
• “Alexa, set my family room light to 80%.”
• “Alexa, brighten my family room light.”
• “Alexa, dim my family room light.”

THIRD-PARTY INTEGRATIONS

1. Connect your fan to Alexa.
2. Connect your other lights and/or switches to Alexa.
3. In the Alexa app, open the menu and tap Smart Home.
4. Under Groups, create a group that includes your fan and the other smart home devices you want to work together.
5. Use Alexa’s voice commands to control your groups.
