Case Study: Wisconsin State Fair Park

Problem

With August temperatures topping 100°F (38°C), the Wisconsin State Fair Coliseum was always stifling and uncomfortable during its biggest event of the year. Staff tried using floor fans and standard-size ceiling fans to cool the space, but these methods never created enough airflow for the 3,100-seat, semi-enclosed space—especially at floor level, where exhibitors and animals needed it most. The facility required a bigger solution to keep visitors and exhibitors comfortable, and animals performing their best.

Solution

Six 24-ft (7.3-m) Powerfoil®X2.0 fans solved the Coliseum’s issues, bringing a cooling breeze to the formerly sweltering space and helping it feel up to 10°F (6°C) cooler. Exhibitors and fair staff have also noticed that animals are more alert and perform better now that the Coliseum has abundant airflow that reaches the floor. The fans even deter bugs and help dry out damp floors after it rains, helping visitors and staff focus on the fair—not uncomfortable conditions in the facility.
